John L. Shears
John Shears is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated attorney who represents individuals and both privately held and public companies in litigation, with an emphasis on representing and advising employers in workers’ compensation matters. John’s successful litigation and trial practice encompass workers’ compensation, construction law, products liability, insurance defense, business, and commercial disputes, subrogation recovery, personal injury, mass torts, and debt collection.
John is a third-generation lawyer, born and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma. After graduating from Po-Hi, John attended Oklahoma State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. John went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While attending law school, John was a W.B. Clark Scholar and completed legal studies at Oxford University, Oxford, United Kingdom. After graduating from law school, John went on to work for some of the largest and most respected law firms in the state. In 2014, John opened his own firm, which he has found to be the most fulfilling move of his career.
John currently resides in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he finds his greatest joy in the company of his beautiful daughters, Payton and Addison. In his free time, John enjoys riding and racing bicycles, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family and friends.
