Civil Litigation

Regardless of the course you chose, just know that having an experienced attorney on your side will increase chances of success.
What is Civil Litigation
This legal process involves disputes between parties who seek either monetary compensation or equitable relief. In cases involving equitable relief, the court would be asked to issue an order that forces the other party to do something or refrain from doing something. A civil lawsuit may be filed either in state or federal court.
Knowing When to Consult with an Attorney
You should seek counsel if you have any of the following questions:
- How do I or my business respond if I am served with a lawsuit?
- How do I file a lawsuit against another person or company?
- Does my company a legitimate complaint and reason to file a lawsuit?
- What defenses do I have against a lawsuit filed against myself or my company
Mediation
Mediation is an informal meeting between the parties, their attorneys, and a mutually selected mediator. This meeting can be agreed upon by both parties or by a judge ordering them to attend one. Since this is an informal meeting, there are no legally binding agreements made by the mediator nor are there any statements made during the meeting that can be used against any party at a trial or hearing. From this point, the mediator will attempt to negotiate a settlement between the parties.
Settling a Case
At the point where both parties agree, they may settle the case at any time or stage of the litigation. Our attorneys will propose a settlement agreement for both parties to sign and conclude the lawsuit.
